Send us your <100 word pitch for a blog post. Give us a brief description of what you plan to write about, how it fits the mission of Lonely Cryptid Media or will be of interest to our readers, and the expected word length and title of the completed post. You may also include a link to a representation of your prior work. We will accept posts of any length, but please note that our fee is a flat rate regardless of length.

We only accept submissions for the first 5 days of each month.

We like pitches related to:

• book, game, film, and other media reviews and discussions related to our mission
• profiles of small and indie publishers and creators
• tall tales about queer cryptids
• getting started creating original media
• getting published or self-publishing
• think pieces on media creation as a member of a historically marginalized group
• how media might be used to tangibly work towards a more socially just society
• general ideas for creating a more socially just society
• anything else that you think fits our mission!

What we will avoid:

• posts which are pure self-promotion
• posts which only consist of advertising your product
• posts which only provide a synopsis or superficial analysis of the media being discussed
• posts which are racist, homophobic, anti-queer, anti-woman, ableist, classist or anti-worker, or otherwise against the mission of Lonely Cryptid Media
• posts which argue that merely representing minorities in media will solve every problem. While we are a media organization, we understand that changing the material conditions of historically marginalized peoples and groups will take more than just representation

Our Agreement:

• Payment: $5 flat fee for first publication rights on our blog. All other rights are retained by you, the author
• We ask that you not publish the writing elsewhere until it has been live on our blog for 30 days
• You may submit writing that have already been previously published for us to crosspost. However, we are not able to pay for previously published posts at this time. Clearly state in your pitch whether the post has been previously published and where
• Because of the volume of submissions we receive if you have not heard from us within 14 days you can assume your submission has been rejected. We are grateful for your submission but we ask that you do not query. Sorry, but we don’t have time to respond to every message!
• Submissions are open only during the first 5 days of each month. Submissions received any other time will be automatically rejected
